Mitsubishi 2012 i-MiEV To Hit Dealerships Nationwide Sooner Than Expected

We are excited to share some good news with our eco-conscious friends who have been waiting - maybe not so patiently - for the new 2012 Mitsubishi i-MiEV to hit the continental U.S. The Japanese automaker has moved up the rollout by about six months. Already the Mitsubishi i-MiEV has started shipping to select markets on the West Coast. And if everything goes according to plan, it will be one of the two most widely available electric vehicles in the US by summer.

The strategy essentially was prompted by the introduction of electric vehicles by two other auto makers. Mitsubishi, of course, wants to meet consumer demand first. Though Lujack Kia Mazda Mitsubishi doesn't really see anything but success for the Mitsubishi i-MiEV, whether it comes first or second.

The Mitsubishi i-MiEV offers 12 MPGe more than the LEAF, an 8-yr/100,000-mi. limited battery warranty (that's what a limited-powertrain warranty is called in an EV), world-class collection of six airbags, and innovative RISE body design which promises drivers and passengers ultimate crash protection. And, did we mention it's less expensive?

Let's see, the most affordable EV in the U.S. with the best fuel economy of any car available nationwide and it's packed with safety features to boot...What more could you ask for? 50/50 split folding rear seats, pedestrian alert, available rear-camera display. The Mitsubishi i-MiEV promises all of that, too! And, just in case you're wondering...the approximate out-of-pocket cost per 100 mile/charge (though we remind you the i-MiEV gets 112 MPGe) is just over three-and-a-half dollars. Just think of how much you could save in the long-term!
